McDonalds hugely promotes #fryfootbol on Twitter

It is a nice idea to have a special packaging for your french fries and launch an augmented reality "trick shot app" that makes use of that packaging for a "kind of football game". I downloaded the app, but didn't get my fries yet, so can't say anything about the fun it is. But McDonald's seems confident that it's big fun as they globally promote the hashtag #fryfootbol. If that's great marketing remains to be seen, but it sure is not bad in getting across the role McD plays: They are one of the FIFA World Cup sponsors and since every company has some kind of WC promotion running, 99.9% not being official sponsors, this activation might at least bring across how deeply they are involved with the tournament.
